I know that some members here have had their fan art pulled because it was deemed to be pornography. And maybe it was. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was. Now I'm not going to pass judgement one way or another on that. After all rules be rules, and if I don't like it I can take my ball and go home.
I always felt this way. That is, up until tonight. Tonight I came onto DeviantArt, and there on the front page were a picture of a woman fingering her labia. Now, I'm by no means a prude, but how is a picture of two well endowed robots sucking each other off porn and a photograph of a woman masturbating art?
So, for curiosity's sake I decided to go into the "Artistic Nude" section of the site and I really have to say, the vast majority of the photographs are not only not artistic, they're pretty much suitable for Playboy and Hustler magazines.
I have to admit it, I don't get it. Where's the line. Why is it okay to show a black and white photo of a woman sucking off a man, and two women making out, but not okay to have a line drawing of two robots who may or may not have human genetalia?
Colour me confused.

I've been through all this hell before,
I've seen it all and more,
Think I'm gonna fade away?
You don't know me.
Now, next question. What do you think of two men kissing? Enter either very uncomfortable silence or vast ewwy noises and shudders.
Okay, now, why is it different? Answer: Because two women are considered sexy while two men are considered disgusting. Excuse me but you make no sense, my dear fellows. What is the difference? Is it simply a fact that one has dangly bits and the others don't?
Alas, I've not gotten a straight (or otherwise) answer out of them.
I fear what reactions I would get if I posed the question of giant alien robots with genitalia might garner.

I suppose that for the most part, you're right though. The double standard is quite prevalent.
And unfortunately giant robots with dangly bits introduces a whole new group of questions as well as arguments. But I suppose that sticky vs. not is a whole different discussion.
we no longer look at the artistic nude as a study or representation of the beauty of the human body. (socicitally speaking) instead, we scream "oh my god, cover that sh*t up!!" or "hehe... boobies!" it is exactly the same reaction we have (again, as a scoiciety) toward pornography. i even heard these reactions (and a few others) toward the very tasteful, classical era nude statues displayed at the Nelson-Atkins museum of art in Kansas City--and those statements were from grown men and women. it's shameful and disappointing.

For the photography, nude/artistic and naked/pornish really is all down to style and sometimes erotic imagery can also be art, so at a guess that kind of thing is very much at the DA employee's discretion.
I do find it sad that a lot of people on DA, a site that's supposed to be full of people who love art, can't appreciate the artistic merits of the nude form and instead go the 'ooh boobies' or 'icky! penis' route.
But then I find the whole prudish/puritan streak thing when it comes to nudity a little baffling anyway - we've all got the same bits no matter what shape and size they are.

It is an excellent points on this subject. Reminds me of the old subject in art history class about What is art? But also why are the differences are between these two? I can't fully answer it cause there are porn rules on here clearly state that says in short no porn with detail descriptions of what that may include. I believe one part of it states that women cannot be spread like that here. I think a part of the reason why no one reports it is due to it being a woman instead of two robots and how the robots should be viewed.
I have had about 3 or 6 (can't remember) of my own TF slash art deleted by DA but I looked at it from their point of view that is was the positions of what they were doing. I figure fine, I can understand that. But I'm betting due to lack of reports to female nudes of what you have described is why they don't get deleted as much.
